Terms and Conditions of Sale

In force as of 17 September 2026

1. Purpose

These terms govern accommodation and excursion bookings made on the website konakoalodge.com, operated by Kona Koa Eco Lodge, in Hanga Roa, Easter Island — Rapa Nui, Chile.

Any booking implies full and unreserved acceptance of these terms. The customer confirms having read them before validating their order.

2. Provider details

3. Services

The website offers two categories of service:

  • accommodation in bungalows, per night, with options for capacity, breakfast and vehicle rental;
  • guided excursions and hikes on the island, on a set date, with or without a vehicle.

Descriptions, photographs and listed amenities are given for guidance only. Only the details confirmed in the confirmation email are contractually binding.

4. Prices

Prices are displayed in euros or in US dollars, depending on the browsing language, taxes included. They apply per night for accommodation, and per service for excursions.

The applicable price is the one displayed at the time the booking is validated. Kona Koa Eco Lodge reserves the right to change its rates at any time, with no effect on bookings already confirmed.

Unless otherwise stated on the service page, the following are not included: meals, vehicle rental, and the Rapa Nui National Park entrance ticket.

Payment in Chilean pesos

As the property is located in Chile, payments are collected in Chilean pesos (CLP).

Before any redirection to the payment page, the exact amount in pesos is displayed to the customer, together with the conversion rate used — that of the Central Bank of Chile — and its date.

The customer’s bank then converts that sum back into their own currency, at its own rate and with any applicable fees. The amount shown on the bank statement may therefore differ slightly from the amount displayed in euros or dollars. This difference is a matter for the customer’s bank and cannot be attributed to Kona Koa Eco Lodge.

5. Booking

Bookings are made online by selecting the dates, capacity and options required, then validating the cart.

A booking becomes firm upon receipt of the deposit payment and dispatch of the confirmation email. Until that email has been received, no place is guaranteed.

The customer warrants the accuracy of the information provided. An incorrect email address prevents the confirmation from being delivered, without the property incurring liability.

6. Payment

6.1 Deposit

A deposit of 30% of the total amount is payable at the time of booking, by credit or debit card, through the secure Getnet — Banco Santander Chile platform.

Card details are entered directly on the payment provider’s servers. Kona Koa Eco Lodge has no access to them at any point and retains no record of them.

6.2 Balance

The remaining 70% is paid on site, on the day of arrival, by credit or debit card only.

No other means of payment is accepted for the balance.

6.3 Payment failure

A declined card authorization results in the automatic cancellation of the booking.

7. Arrival and departure

Arrival: between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
Departure: between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon.

The customer undertakes to provide their flight number in advance, so that arrival can be arranged. Any arrival outside these hours must be agreed beforehand and cannot be guaranteed.

For excursions, the meeting point and time are stated on the service page and repeated in the confirmation.

8. Cancellation by the customer

Any cancellation must be sent in writing to contact@konakoalodge.com. The date the email is received shall prevail.

Notice before the arrival or excursion dateConsequence
More than two monthsfree cancellation, deposit refunded in full
Less than two monthsdeposit retained as compensation

Any refund is issued in the original currency of the transaction, to the payment method used at the time of booking. As the exchange rate applied by the customer’s bank at the time of the refund may differ from the rate applied to the original charge, the amount credited back may differ slightly from the amount paid. Such a difference is a matter for the customer’s bank.

9. No-show

A customer who does not arrive on the agreed date, without having canceled under the conditions of article 8, receives no refund. The room or excursion place is released.

10. Changes by the customer

Any request to change dates, capacity or options is considered subject to availability and does not constitute a right. An accepted change may result in a price adjustment.

11. Cancellation by the property

In the event of force majeure, dangerous weather conditions or any event making the service impossible, Kona Koa Eco Lodge may cancel a booking.

The customer is then offered either a postponement to a later date or a full refund of the sums paid, at their choice. No further compensation may be claimed, in particular in respect of air travel costs.

Excursions are particularly exposed to Rapa Nui’s changeable weather. An outing canceled for safety reasons is rescheduled or refunded.

12. No right of withdrawal

In accordance with article L221-28 12° of the French Consumer Code and article 16 of European Directive 2011/83/EU, the fourteen-day right of withdrawal does not apply to accommodation, transport, vehicle rental and leisure services supplied on a specific date or for a specific period.

Only the cancellation conditions set out in article 8 apply.

13. Customer obligations

The customer undertakes to respect the premises, the neighborhood and the island’s environment. Rapa Nui is a protected territory, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List; access to certain sites is regulated and requires a National Park entrance ticket, not included in the services unless otherwise stated.

Any damage observed is charged to the customer.

14. Insurance

Customers are strongly advised to take out travel insurance covering cancellation, medical expenses and repatriation. The island’s remoteness makes such coverage particularly valuable.

15. Liability

Kona Koa Eco Lodge cannot be held responsible for flight delays or cancellations, strikes, site closures, or any external event affecting the customer’s journey.

Its liability is limited to the amount of the services actually paid for.

16. Personal data

Data collected is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the site’s Legal Notice.

17. Complaints and disputes

Any complaint must be addressed to contact@konakoalodge.com. An amicable solution will be sought as a matter of priority.

Failing this, a consumer residing in the European Union may contact the European Consumer Centre in their country of residence, which provides free information and assistance in cross-border disputes.
